Lake Catherine State Park

RV Park Near Lake Catherine State Park
Lake Catherine State Park is tucked into the Ouachita Mountains just a short drive from Hot Springs, this 2,180-acre park blends tranquil hardwood forest with lakeside recreation including a full-service marina, boat and paddle rentals, swimming, fishing, and guided lake tours. Here are three of our favorite ways to spend a day out there.
Things to do while in Lake Catherine State Park

Hike to the Waterfall
The Falls Branch Trail winds through a lovely pine and hardwood forest, crossing Little Canyon Creek several times before leading to a seasonal scenic waterfall and it’s one of the most popular hikes in the park for good reason. It’s a beautiful, peaceful walk that rewards you with a genuinely stunning payoff at the end.

Get Out on the Water
Lake Catherine State Park offers kayak and stand-up paddleboard rentals year-round, and a full marina with boats, motors, bait, and fuel in the summer months. The lake is a great spot for fishing, paddling, or just cruising around and taking in the scenery. With 1,940 acres of water surrounded by the Ouachita Mountains, it’s hard to find a prettier place to spend a morning.

Horseback Riding
Guided horseback rides are offered seasonally through the park’s wooded trails, making for a really special way to explore the area, especially for families. It’s the kind of experience that sticks with you long after you’ve headed home, and a great reason to plan your visit for the warmer months.
After a day on the water or the trails, home base is just a short drive away. Hot Springs Campground & RV Park has shaded sites with full hookups, cozy fully-furnished cabins, and all the amenities you need to unwind at the end of a good day.
